We are delighted to share that our partnership with Silverburn has won the Premises & Facilities Management (PFM) Award for Partners in Cleaning – Large Estates, recognising the collaborative work between Andron, Silverburn and Workman LLP.
The PFM Partnership Awards recognise the strongest client–service provider collaborations in the FM sector, with the Partners in Cleaning – Large Estates category focused on delivery across complex, high-footfall environments.
Silverburn is one of Scotland’s busiest retail and leisure destinations, attracting more than 15 million visitors each year. Operating a site of this scale requires a cleaning and soft FM service that is carefully aligned with the centre’s daily activity, visitor volumes, and operational needs. Working in partnership, we have developed a service model that supports the guest experience and ensures the centre remains clean, safe, and fully prepared for both visitors and occupiers. Key features of the partnership include:
- Demand-led cleaning supported by real-time data, allowing teams to be deployed precisely where they are needed, even during peak periods
- Sustainable cleaning materials with dashboards measuring carbon avoidance and plastic reduction, contributing to Silverburn’s 2030 net-positive targets for carbon, water and resource use
- Chemical-free cleaning methods that support healthier air quality throughout the centre
- An improved waste service, increasing recycling rates from 66% to 76% and enhancing carbon and material reporting through detailed dashboards
- Investment in people, including payment of the Real Living Wage, retention, internal career progression and Exceeding Visitor Expectations training
- Retention on site has remained at 97%, supporting consistency and service continuity
- Support for local biodiversity, with four on-site beehives now home to nearly two million bees
The team also supports Silverburn’s wider community activity, including the relaunch of the Silverburn Eco Hub for school visits and biodiversity education, participation in the centre’s job fair and fundraising for local causes such as Pollok Pantry. With our cleaning team’s support in maintaining standards, Silverburn raised over £100,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity in 2024 through on-site community activations.
This recognition reflects the strength of the partnership and the day-to-day coordination it takes to keep standards consistent across a complex, high-footfall environment. Thank you to Environmental Services Manager Sandra Wright for her support in preparing the award submission and for leading the team with such care and consistency, and to Regional Director Steven Dunnachie and Retail Regional Manager Martin McAtee for their continued support. Most of all, thank you to our on-site teams — this recognition reflects the standards they deliver every day.
